Costume Events

Here are photos from most of the costuming events we have attended in the last 4 years. Both Jon and I are in the 501st Legion, the "bad guys" and I am in the Rebel Legion the "good guys". The two groups work together to raise a staggering amount of money for charity.

Our costuming is done on a volunteer basis, we do not earn money at these events. Most of the time we are raising money for charity. We are allowed to wear the intellectual property of George Lucas because we don't accept money for our appearances.

Over the years, Mr. Lucas has put the 501st Legion's name into books, video games and most recently on an action figure. He has also requested troopers to march in the 2007 Rose Bowl Parade.

Costume Reference

Since we have to have costumes that look like they came straight off the set of the films, a great deal of research goes into making every piece of the costume. These are not things that you can buy in your local Halloween costume shop!

Here are some pages of reference photos and information. I would really like to make detailed tutorials, but have not been able to do so at this time.

Some of the photos were taken by us at exhibits. Others are not owned by us, and we will gladly take them down if requested by the original owner.

Weddings: Ours, Friends and Family

This is where photos of weddings we attend are featured.

My good friend, Kim, and I met while on a crazy road trip to Long Island in 2002. Kim and Christian were married on a perfect May afternoon with their daughter having a large part in the ceremony and surrounded by family and friends. The entire group that met for the crazy trip to Long Island joined Kim and Christian at their home for the wedding weekend. It was a wonderful time, and doesn't seem like it could have been almost three years ago!

Jon has been good friends with Jay for years. I actually met Jay first, but he and Jon had a lot more in common. Jay and Lisa met through a mutual friend and seemed perfect for each other from the start. They invited many friends and family to their elegant reception held close to Valentine's day.

Hawai'i

I fell in love with Hawai'i the moment I saw the Big Island in April, 1996. I told my family I was going to move there, and started the process of applying to the University of Hawai'i at Hilo as soon as I got home. I did attend the university getting my degree in Geology.

When I learned that Jon had never been there, I knew I had to show him all my favorite places some day. Before we even planned to marry, we planned to see Hawai'i together. That, along with my intense desire to see my beloved Hawai'i, made choosing the location for our honeymoon easy.

We were able to spend two weeks exploring the island of Oahu and the Big Island. While on Oahu, we spent a bit of time with my Matron of Honor, Moana, and her husband, Preston. It was a wonderful trip, and I can't wait until we have the chance to go back!

LionsTrooper

Jon has been a fan of the Detroit Lions his whole life, so it was only a matter of time before he managed to marry two of his favorite things: sports and Star Wars.

He debuted his LionsTrooper on a cold day in December 2004. He wore the LionsTrooper again in the winter of 2005. This year he hopes to wear the gear when it's a bit warmer outside.

Tauntaun Skywalker & Mara Jade

When I was told that I wasn't going to be working for some time, Jon finally relented and we picked two adorable kittens from the Humane Society.

Tauntaun is big, easy going, and not fond of strangers. He's also a very vocal kitten, especially when he is in a car or locked in a room. Tauntaun is my boy, he will follow me all over the house and chatter at me the whole time.

Mara is small and sleek. She's always running around the house. She doesn't talk like a regular cat; instead she chirps and squeaks. Jon is her favorite human, but she is the friendly kitten.
