LionsTrooper On TV

December 5, 2004
Ford Field, Detroit, MI

While in his LionsTrooper costume, Jon was being sought out to help a Star Wars fan with his Grand Rapids newscast. Brent found us, and spoke to me. He asked if we would be willing to wait around after the game to go down on the field for an interview and some "local flavor."

The funny part of the day was that the sportscaster, Brent, was looking to get a set of armor and Join the 501st Legion. He was also pals with a friend of ours in GR. Now we are all good friends, and whenever there's an even in GR, Brent opens his home to us so we won't have to drive home after an event.

The Second outing as LionsTrooper was on a cold, blustery day. Inside we met many fans who were thrilled to see a Star Wars Stormtrooper dressed up with Detroit Lions markings.

Detroit played Minnesota that day (and lost to them). It was fun, but not as crazy as the first trip to Ford Field with the LionsTrooper.

The third appearance of the LionsTrooper at Ford Field was a big hit. Jon was mobbed by children of all ages. There were a lot of children at the game as the theme was "Toys for Tots". U.S. Marines were on hand to help collect toys and they seemed to enjoy seeing an over-sized action figure bring smiles to children's faces.

It was another very cold day, and Jon was relieved to get back to the car after the game. For the record: Stormtrooper armor is not warm in cold weather, likewise it is not cool in warm weather.

LionsTrooper Meets BengalsTrooper

December 18, 2005
Ford Field, Detroit, Mi

This was our last outing with the LionsTrooper. We had known of the BengalsTrooper for years, as he has been shown at many Cincinnati Bengals home games.

The football fans at Ford Field were thrilled to see the troopers rooting for opposing teams. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of time to take photos with the football-loving stormtroopers. The BengalsTrooper spent most of the game in his first row seats, cheering on his team.

Blasty stayed around the concourse having his photo taken with children of al ages.
